SeeCar Systems Selected for Central Market of Madrid (MercaMadrid) (05/06/2003) Over 15,000 trucks a day, some 2,500 moving vehciles during the peak hour in as single lane, all different and most with low quality plates... the challenge was clear! The central market of Madrid, Spain, issued an open tender inviting the top international licnese plate recognintion systems to compete in order to be certified as the selected solution for the market. Eight different LPR systems participated in the competition. Among thoses, the Hi-Tech Solutions SeeCar system demonstrated the best performance with measured recogntion rate of 99.6% for good plates and 96% overall, including vehicles with damaged or missing plates. But the recognition rate was not the only factor condsidered by the market managers. Stability, speed of the system, security and of course, price were additional issues taken into account. The project was awarded to Selesta Networks S.A. of Madrid, together with Hi-Tech Solutions. The project inlcudes 25 lanes, each including license plate recognition and image capturing of vehicle and driver face.
